One thing we can always count on in the field of technology is
change. Everyday new technology is developed, and current
technology is being updated.

Our training department at OCI will soon be issuing cellular
phones and portable/handheld PDA’s to each of their
employees. You are being asked to conduct research on one of
the two products, comparing and contrasting at least three
different makes and models, and then make a recommendation
as to what should be purchased. Take into consideration price,
existing features, as well as upgrades that will be available in
the future.

To receive full credit for this assignment, complete the following:

1. Choose one of the following technologies to compare/contrast:
Cellular Telephone
Portable/Handheld Device

2. Using the following websites, gather information to support your purchase
recommendation.

Note: You may use other websites for your research, as long as you include the
link where the information was obtained.

3. It is your job to select and evaluate at least three different but similar technology
products (for example either 3 different smart phones or 3 different tablets). You will
need to find out what each of the three products can do, describe how each product
will help employees do their jobs better, and the price of each product. Following your
research, you will present your findings on all three products.

4. Your presentation to the Training Department Manager should be formatted as a
slideshow in PowerPoint. Document all three products you compared in a creative, yet
informative manner. Include images of the items. Be sure to also use a slide design
and put transitions between each slide.

When you have choices to make, it is important to make an
informed decision. You will be using the presentation that you
created in Job 7.06 to make recommendations to the the
Technical Department Manager on the technology chosen.

about making informed decisions. You will read the steps to use
the Decision Matrix.

Follow these directions to complete Job 7.07 Evaluation of Technology

Using these decision making guides, it is time for you to rank the three items that you
evaluated in Job 7.06. The following criteria will be used to make your decision:

what the units can do
how each will help increase employee productivity
the price of the unit

To complete this assignment, you will create a table in Word (using the
Table/Insert/Table feature).

Please be sure to merge the cells for the title.

Explain your three choices for the unit you researched.

Using the decision making steps that you learned, you must include your first, second,
and third choices for your technology and why you chose this order. View sample
