My current job is a sales support role and there is not much design behind it. I have been creating as I go since I started in this new role earlier this year. The sales and recruiter side of our organization is heavily influenced by the Expectancy Theory of Motivation as they are highly motivated by commissions, bonuses, and awarded trips and perks to thrive in their role. In the creation of my role within this organization, there have been conversations on creating a bonus structure for my role in the new year.

If I could redesign my role as sales support, I would strictly enforce a communication structure between sales and myself. I would also use the Expectancy Theory of Motivation and create a bonus structure for my role as well since I am supporting the operations of the company. That would motivate me more than just having the motivation to complete tasks so I can keep my job. I would also include elements from the ERG Theory of Motivation. The opportunity for growth is very important to me as I feel that it is also in a sales environment.
