Review the Organization Analysis Guidelines and submit a brief proposal for your analysis. In your proposal, include the following elements:
- Identify the organization you wish to study.
I would like to propose to study and observe one of the biggest retailers, Costco Wholesale.
- Identify which aspect of management (e.g., organizational culture, social responsibility, strategic management, organizational structure, innovation management, motivation, etc.) will be the focus of your analysis.
By focusing on organizational structure with the Costco business, I will be able to fully grasp the concept of how a company achieves their goals. These activities included responsibility, roles, rules, and how information flows throughout Costco.
- Briefly describe which management concepts, frameworks, and/or theories you will use in your analysis. For example, an analysis of innovation management should incorporate Exhibit 7.1.
Costco’s competitive strategy
If you end up choosing strategy as your topic, Analyze Costco’s competitive strategy (e.g., cost leadership, differentiation, etc.), including its competitive advantage and core competencies.
