Milgram study

Based on what you have understood from Chapter 9 and Chapter 12, do you believe that ordinary people can do things that are “out of character”? For example, in the Milgram study we saw that people shocked others (or at least they believed they did), in the Zimbardo study we saw that the prisoners had breakdowns and the guards were cruel, in the bystander effect studies we saw that people did not help others, etc.

Do you think you are capable of doing such things? What role does personality play? What role does situation play?

This is a reflection exercise. I am looking for a thoughtful, reflective response. There are no right or wrong answers (but there are carefully thought out and less carefully thought out responses!)
