Descriptive Persuasive Essay
Descriptive essay is a genre of essay which is used to describe a certain subject: a person, a thing, a place, a memory, experience, situation..
. A good descriptive essay should make the readers feel like they are present in the scene. As other essays, a descriptive essay usually has three parts: introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion. In the first part: introduction, the writer must have a sentence to introduce the subject with many kinds of techniques. Besides, there should be some more sentences to explain why the subject is important to the writer.In order to make coherence, the writer may add a linking sentence and starts the next part: body paragraphs. This is the most important part of the essay.
It contains most of the description. The writer will portray the subject so that the readers can feel like they are in the scene and they can know how it looks, feels, smells… Finally, in the conclusion, the writer will give his or her final opinion about the subject. Although writing a descriptive essay may sound very easy at first, it’s really very difficult if you want to transfer your ideas to the readers. First, you should jot down as many details about the subject as possible.Try to recreate it in your mind. The more details you have, the better the essay will be. Then, you can describe it, using clear and concise language.
You should avoid repeating the words continually. If you want to describe something, you need to appeal to the senses of the readers. Explain how the thing smelled, felt, sounded, tasted, or looked. If you can describe emotions or feelings related to your topic, you will be able to leave a deeper impression on the readers. Moreover, you should add more adjectives, adverbs, prepositions and prepositional phrases to make the experience more vivid.You can impress the readers by your vocabulary and make them cannot stop reading your essay. By using your five senses effectively and recreate the emotions in your essay in your own way, you will be able to show your experience to the readers.
What make a good descriptive essay are not facts or statistics but your detailed observations and descriptions. Although sometimes it may seem rather vague, a descriptive essay is the most liberating and pleasurable essay to write. You are just writing something as you see it. If you can describe an idea or image in language, you have accomplished your task.
